Please read through all of the following before submitting your work. Thank you!✶ You must be aged 13-25 to submit.
✶ Simultaneous submissions are allowed, but please let us know if your piece is accepted elsewhere!
✶ Previously published work is not allowed.
✶ The use of AI is strictly prohibited, and will result in rejection.
✶ Extreme profanity and sexual content are not allowed. If you have any questions about whether your piece violates this guideline, e-mail us at [email protected]
✶ Hateful and discriminatory content in any shape or form is strictly prohibited, and will result in rejection and blacklisting from future Morning Star Literary initatives.
THE SPECIFICS
POETRY:
✶ You may submit a maximum of 2 poems per submission cycle
✶ A minimum of 10 lines / a maximum of 40 lines
✶ Times New Roman, single spaced, font size 12 (If your poem has unique formatting or a font/font size that is creatively relevant, we will accept it)PROSE:
✶ One submission per cycle
✶ A maximum of 1500 words
✶ Times New Roman, 1.5 spaced, font size 12FICTION / CREATIVE NON-FICTION:
✶ One submission per cycle
✶ A maximum of 2500 words

✶ We are accepting excerpts of larger piecesSCREENPLAY:
✶ One submission per cycle
✶ No more than 5 pages
